Kinsey's bday, gluten free girl and other fab things ;]

oh I almost forgot!! [slaps self] today my lovely friend Kinsey is celebrating her birthday! So go over to go to this post and wish her a happy one! I met Kinsey through blogging a while ago and we've been getting to know each other also through twitter [love that site! ;]. We have our differences and own opinions about things but she has been so encouraging and sweet to me. Even though we haven't met in person I consider her a dear friend :) Happy Birthday Kinsey! ♥♥

*not my photo. property of Kinsey at http://soulbacon.blogspot.com*

Okay so sunday night I spent an hour writing a blog post and it was kinda important and really good. and then my worst nightmare came alive. Mozilla crashed and it was gone. all gone. except for a little bit. like 1/3 of what I had written. I tried writing it again but it didn't come so I went to bed. I'm not going to try to rewrite what I had written, I'm just gonna do a fresh new post. *sometimes i could just chuck this computer out the window*

My life has been busy. I have things I have to get done like *ahem* school if I wanna graduate and other things too which you will read about below. I'm not trying to use "i've been busy" as an excuse but its the truth. I've missed blogging and I'm sure you've missed me! ;] just kidding.... well here's what I've been up to and what's new in my life [a few very random happenings ;)

My allergies flared up a few days ago, of course when the rest of the family's were fine! ;P But now its turned into more :/ I woke up this morning feeling really bad. sore throat, headache, ear pains and a whole lot of gunk in my sinuses! I'm trying my best to workout every other day and I was supposed to do it last night but I didn't feel up to it. So I did it this morning hoping it would make me feel better but it didn't :( It was a really good workout though! :)

I'm completely gluten free.

and it feels great. I'm really enjoying it. Its hard to no to those cookies or the mac n cheese but I have to remind myself its not worth it. And it takes a lot of time and energy to make meals but its worth it. I've enjoyed searching blogs and sites for new gluten free meals and snacks. My mom has been very encouraging and keeps me in check, like saying "don't eat that!' when i'm reaching for the cookie jar ;) It's so nice when I get a headache or whatever that I can almost always rule out food as the cause of the headache.

I've started to babysitting for friends. some regularly and other here and there. And I love it. I feel very blessed to have parents trust me with their kids and want me to babysit/spend time with them :)

I bought The Voyage of the Dawn Treader! and it arrived in the mail on tuesday. yayyy!! :] I got the Blu-Ray-DVD-Digital Copy Deal for $20. I'm happy I found what I wanted! I think there's a movie booklet things in the package too but I haven't opened yet so I'm really excited to! I've really been wanting to get a good amount of school [its my idea not my parent's or anything. just wanna try to discipline myself ;] done before I break into it :) I haven't seen it since December so like I said I'm pumped ;) plus my mom hasn't seen it so pray I get tons of school done so I can watch it ;) its hard not to open it!

I'm so thankful for my family and friends. I'm beyond blessed. They show love, support and encourage me. They make me a stronger and more faithful person. I've been reminded of that many times over the past few weeks. ♥♥♥

I'm making THIS yummy looking gluten free stew. its in the crock pot now and the wonderful smell is starting to waft through the house. And its raining/storming outside. And its friday. and i get my whole family for the weekend. AND its Easter. perfect.

Alrighty, well that's all for now. Look for an Easter post sometime this weekend :)

much love♥,
Samarah

P.S. I freshened up my playlist. I switched to MixPod and there's some new music! a while ago I turned off the-automatically-playing-when-you-come-to-my-blog option and it seems like more people have visited this lil' blog ;) But don't forget its down there! take a listen and lemme know what you think :)

catching up :] ♥

I'm taking a minute and sitting down and writing a blog post. I should be working on school but I'm missing blogging and you guys a lot! I will get school done though tonight ;] Most days, I'm hoping to get my school done during the day and then I can blog at night :)

Also, I've worked out 3 times since Wednesday! :) I'm not eating bread or a lot of dairy and trying to stick to gluten free foods. and I'm feeling great! I'm seeing the results of doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and I'm loving that! ;) I finally feel like I'm in control of my body and I'm not just eating anything and everything and going weeks without exercising. I'm quite proud of myself! If you are feeling bad about your body/health and you feel too tired and unmotivated to start eating healthy and exercising, here's my advice: just do it. its kinda simple. you don't have to go out of the house. do a dvd, run, walk, go to the gym or do sits ups and push ups in your bedroom. it doesn't have to be high intensity. do something. don't agonize over it and even if you feel like the time isn't right. just do it. you won't regret it ;)
over the past week around 10 more lovely people have pushed that follow button on my sidebar! sooo...

I am so blessed. I appreciate each and every one of you! A little over a year ago, one night I started a lil' blog called "samarah's sayings" and I never imagined that my blog would have 103 followers. I've loved "meeting" girls from all around the world and finding lots of soul sisters ;] You leave some pretty sweet comments too! Thank you so much! I pray that my blog would encourage and inspire you to embrace who you are in Christ :)
Thew new design is coming soon!!

So its pretty obvious that I'm a bit (ok like 6 days) behind on the 28 day challenge ;] I'm going to do days 16,17,18, & 19 and tomorrow I'll do days20, 21, & 22 :)

here goes....

Day 16- a song that makes you cry-

Ok I'm not really a person that cries during songs or movies etc. its rare that I do. but here's a song that makes me sad because its reality to some ladies.
Carrie Underwood- Just a Dream
you can listen to it on my playlist at the bottom of the page.

Day 17- An art piece-

hmm... this is a hard one. This is one is the only one I can think of right now. There might be another but oh well ;)
Open Hearts by Jane Seymour

Day 18- a time when you feel passionate and alive-

well this is a deep question :)
the time when I feel passionate and alive is when I'm a concert. Coming together with hundreds of other people praising and worshiping Christ straight from my soul. and just having a down right good and fun time :)

from weheartit.com

Day 19- a talent of yours-

I'm good with little kids. Like baby to 2 or 3 years old :) not that I don't like kids that are older but I do much better with littler chillens ;) I "work" with the 1 year olds (and also almost 1 year olds) in the nursery at my church. work meaning playing with them, helping them down the slide, reading books and doing puzzles. fun work! ;) The other ladies that work in the there say that I seem to know what I'm doing because I have lots of experience :) Other people have said that and I really appreciate it. I love lil' people. We watch a 7 month old and an almost 1 year old and they.are.so.much.fun. I also babysit for some friends who have a 1 & half-ish y.o. and she is so funny and cute! aannnddd she is going to have a sister in the next few weeks! I'm so excited!! plus we live in the same neighborhood so thats even better! ;)
I think children are one of God's greatest blessings. Life is beautiful and kids remind me of that :)

My mom and I watched The Blind Side a few nights ago and it was really good.

its an amazing touching story and I want to read the book now :) they could of done without some of the language in the movie but I would give it 4 1/2 stars :) and SJ was so adorable and funny! :]

welp, that's all for now! I'm off to do some latin homework :/ I've got a headache and I'm praying that it goes away!
hope you are having a fabulous day!

by the way, this is my anthem right now. post a bit about that in the near future!
much love,
Samarah♥

a bit busy right now....

it feels like i haven't been on here in forever but I've definitely been trying to prioritize: cutting back on my computer/itouch online time, doing some major school work, eating gluten free and working out. I haven't been tweeting or emailing, blogging, reading blogs, commenting, editing pictures etc. as much and it  hasn't been too bad! ;] I can live without the Internet ;] but I do miss you all!  I'm behind on the 28 day challenge and I'm planning to{hopefully}catch up on that and on all you guys' blogs and everything over the weekend :]
I've been having an awesome time with the new camera. plus we've had some down right gorgeous weather. like 60degreesgooutsidewithoutacoatandsoakupthewarmsunshine days! so I've had tons of fun taking pictures outside :) I'm so in love with the camera. its simply amazing. real quick here are some shots showing you what I've been up to :]

I haven't done any huge editing on these. I did "auto fix" on Picnik, on some of them and then I boosted the color of the one with a * :]

hangin' out with the books ;P

taking pictures of some adorable babes :)

I've been meeting up with this gal every other morning! its been tough but I'm determined to shred some weight :)

who knew rocks could be so pretty??
this is straight outta the camera, I got down on the ground and took this. and it was worth it :)

a favorite!

last but not least.... eating some of this YUM.E. stuff. seriously its amazing. its gluten free, (99%), chocolate oh wait triple chocolate, and its Swiss Miss. how could ya go wrong??!! its heavenly... *sigh* I won't say how many I've had today so I'm just gonna work an extra 1 hour tomorrow with Jillian ;]

alright well, I'm off to bed to read some then conk out...

Samarah

Day 9 & 10, new camera and new blogger :)

First of all, thank you SO much for all your sweet comments on my last post {really on the past few posts}!! you girls are so encouraging and sweet. love you all so much :)

sorry I'm a bit behind on the 28 day challenge. I was really feeling bad yesterday, I even had to stay home from Latin class. I think I've only missed 1 other day in the entire 2 years I've been taking Latin. Today I was exhausted. exhausted. I took two 1 hour naps. that's NOT like me. We even had 3 extra kids(almost 1, 3, and 5 y.o.) and I managed to sleep for 2 hours amidst the very loud little people. I still feel really weak and tired. I didn't get any school done :/ I really hope I'm not getting sick.

Day 9-A photo you took-
this is a hard one because I've taken like tons of photos :P I have lots of ones that I'm quite proud of that I took of my siblings and my "adopted" sisters but I can't post them on here because their faces are just too cute to share with the blogging world ;] So I'll choose another one (or 2 or 3)

none of these have been edited. straight out of the camera :)

I really love this one. my good friend's converse :) i really love the purple

ahh the lovely sight of spring!

took this on a hike. love God's creation

pure beauty
having a little fun ;)

Day 10: A photo of you taken over ten years ago.
I can't do this one or tomorrow's because I don't post pictures of myself (my face) on my blog. Maybe in the future but not now. I'm just too gorgeous, ya'll aren't ready for me yet ;] But for Day 11 I will post a picture of me but not showing my face.

Ok onto the exciting camera news!!! We(my family) are getting a new camera! the one we have now is really old and the zoom stinks. see?

We've gotten by with it and gotten some really good shots but its just time to look for a better one. One of the reasons we are getting I'll share with ya another time. so excited :) so be on the look out for that! anywho, I'm really pumped about the one we're getting because it has a super sweet zoom and stuff like that. I will be able to put off my efforts for a more "professional" camera because this one is sooo sweet.and the cost is really reasonable.  I really want to explore photography. I love beauty and photography can capture it. wanna see it??!! here its is....
 Nikon Coolpix L110

ain't she a beauty??

I'm really excited to get my lil' hands on it!! ;D And getting it means that I'll post a lot more pictures! :]

I want to welcome Stephanie, Emily's {Grace Like Rain}sister to the blogging world! Check out her blog, While I'm Waiting. She is super sweet and her blog posts are encouraging and inspiring! :)

hope you are having a good night and I don't know about you but I'm glad tomorrow is friday! oh yeah, its my dad's birthday! :D I'll be doing a special post for that ;)

much love,
♥Samarah

Emily's blog?,I am Second, and its too much!

Ok girls, you remember Emily right?
well I can't find her blog. I've clicked on her button and googled it her blog name(Living for His Purpose/Emily's Cancer Blog) and when I click on it, it has an error message.I've even tried it on different computers so I'm wondering if they've deleted her blog or something like that.I can't even get to her little brother's blog. Is it just me or has her blog disappeared?? I really hope it isn't!!

I saw this really neat video on Bleah's blog. There is this really neat movement called I am Second and its  really fantastic.I hadn't heard of it until I watched this video. I've come to the fact that I'm expecting too much out of myself regarding my gluten free eating plan and exercising plan. I hate to say that but working out every other day is just too much. My body can't take that with all that I've been through and what I am going through. I get Jillian Michael's Losing it newsletter everyday and one day it was about making setting goals that you can accomplish and work your way up to bigger challenges(read it here) It reminded me that I can't just plunge right into working out or eating gluten free or really can't jump right into many things in life. I was feeling bad when I couldn't not eat gluten for just 1 day or I had to stop for a few mins while doing an intense workout. I need to start small and work my way up. When I first starting thinking about this I thought " I feel like a lazy slacker or I need to do more!". But if I take it slow and accomplish small goals then I can work my way up to greater challenges. So I'm going to work out 2-3 days a week and work my way up to eating gluten free all the time. so if I eat some bread or a granola bar for a snack then I do and I keep going on. I'm not going to just eat whatever I want but I'm not going to beat myself up for eating something that's not GF free. I've also thought of the idea of at night writing down the things I've accomplished that day. So I write if I went the whole day without eating gluten or if I ate 1 meal GF or exercised that day. I'm going to do this with Bible reading, I really need to get in the Word more and so I'm going to start in Genesis and read 1 chapter everyday( we are doing this in our youth group at church). That way during the weekend I can look at the the goals I've accomplished during the week and be encourage but also look at the things I can work on during the next week :) So those are my ideas and thoughts!
That was a lot longer than I expected it to be! if you read through all of it congrats ;)

and yes I have 2 Taylor Swift songs on my playlist ;) Never Grow Up and Tied Together with a Smile. They are really neat songs and they don't involve any boys!! ;D Never Grow Up is such a sweet song, even if you don't like Taylor Swift please take a listen. I can relate this song to my little brother and sister and the little kids we(my mom and I) babysit. There is a little girl who is 8 or 9 months, who shall be called Cupcake and she is so.adorable. seriously she's the cutest little thing! when I first saw her and held her when she was just a few weeks old, she created a sweet and very special place in my heart :) We watch her older sister, who shall be called Muffins (which is is her real nickname ;) and she is such a sweetie also. Cupcake and Muffins are my "adopted" sisters ;) wow, I got way off track ;P so the main thought of this section is that I would really like to keep the little people in my life to stay little. they grow up so fast and I'm learning to treasure every moment with them :)

I really didn't intend this post to be long but it is. I've been sitting at the computer for like *ahem* 2 hours. I've probably killed hundreds of brain cells and I won't be able to think for the rest of the night. oh well, the dead cells will be replaced quickly... I hope. ;)

hope you are having a great week, serving Christ and loving others :)

with love,

blessings and thankfulnes

(not my photo)

I probably won't be posting tomorrow so I'm doing my Thanksgiving post now :)
I've been blessed by God with SO much. I have a lot to be thankful for.
Here are just a few things I'm thankful for,

My Savior Jesus Christ. He saved me from myself and in Him I have Hope. I don't know how I would keep going without Him. In the past year, I feel like I've grown closer to Him through all my health issues. Some days I feel like my life is just falling apart then I read a verse, talk to friend, or listen to a song that reminds that I can go on with His strength and love. That I am more than my problems or mistakes. I am His and I am a new creation in Him.

My amazing family. Seriously I have the best family ever. They love and care for me even when I'm in my worst mood ;) Our favorite things to do together is snuggling up on the couch and watching The Andy Griffith Show or taking a hike or just hanging out :) my little sister will make me sweet cards saying "I love you" for no reason and my little brother will give me a hug or say something like "you're the best big sister ever". My dad never ceases to make me laugh and he would do anything for me if I need it. My mom is the best. She teaches me, laughs with me,. cries with me, helps me, and has incredible patience and forgiveness towards me! Those things and more are priceless and I'll be honest... sometimes I'm not very fun at all to live with but my family puts up with it and does a very good job ;) I don't know what I'd do without them!

My fabulous friends. One of God's greatest blessings! good friends are hard to find nowadays but I've got a great bunch of 'em. My friends will listen to me talk about the bad day I had or what I'm struggling with. And they will encourage me or just tell me to suck it up ;) just kidding!! :) We can laugh and talk about random girl things ;)  I don't feel like I have to put on a fake face for them, I want them to see me just as I am- a beautiful mess. We can help each other grow spiritually, emotionally and physically. I love talking to a friend about how I feel and they say " i feel like that too!" knowing that I'm not alone. in the good times and bad. I love my friends and am SO thankful for them!

YOU! yes I'm thankful for you, the readers of my blog. You reading, commenting, and following is a blessing to me. When I started this blog I had no idea that a year later I would have almost 70 followers and meeting new people who are like me-striving to love and serve Christ and reach out to other people. and the encouragement and joy I get out of this blog is great! Thank you so very much :)

Awesome music. Music is a big part of me. I'm so thankful for the artists who write about things that God has put on their heart and create some really awesome and uplifting songs!  Songs are the words of my heart when I'm speechless. ♥

Some random things that I'm thankful for :)
  • my warm house
  • itouch ;)
  • being able to get an education
  • photography
  • my church
  • clothes
  • having clean food and water
  • entertainment
  • clothes
Don't just think of all the things you are thankful for on Thanksgiving but all year round. When you think you've come to the end of your rope or just can't go any longer count your blessings. one by one.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'll leave you with this Thanksgiving prayer from the episode "A Time to Heal" of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. It sums up my post and I think its beautiful.

Dear Lord,
Le us give thanks to God our Father for all of his gifts so freely bestowed upon us. For all the beauty and wonder of your creation and earth, sky and sea. For our daily food and drink, homes and family and friends, for minds to think and hearts to love and hands to serve, for health and strength to work and leisure to rest and play, for brave and courageous , for a patient in suffering and faithful in adversity and for all valiant seekers after truth, liberty and justice, we thank you dear Lord. Amen.

Love in Christ,
Samarah
