God Shaped Holes :)

I've heard this song before today but I never really listened to the words. I heard it on Air1 and looked up the lyrics. Its called God Shaped Hole by Plumb. Its an amazing song. I haven't heard a song like it before. It talks about that "hole" or "void" in us that only God can fill. We can try to fill it when lots and lots of other things like money, possessions, and even people but eventually we realize that "things" and people can't fill it. So many people waste their life trying to fill that void and never really realize that they can't. Sometimes us as Christians who know that only God can fill that void can't convince those people that God only can give them satisfaction, only God can make them realize. He's the one who saves people and fills that God shaped hole!

Every point of view has another angle
And every angle has its merit
But all comes down to faith
That's the way I see it

You can say that love is not divine and
You can say that life is not eternal
'all we have is know'
But I don't believe it

There's a God-shaped hole in all of us
And the restless soul is searching
There's a God-shaped hole in all of us
And it's a void only he can fill

Does the world seem gray with empty longing
Wearing every shade of cynical
And do you ever feel that
There is something missing?

That's my point of view...

Here's what Plumb had to say about this song :)
Behind the Song: “The idea for this song was taken from a conversation two people once had regarding C.S. Lewis’ quote, ‘Emptiness is at the center of my being.’ Augustine said it along this line, ‘We have a God-shaped vacuum in us that can only be filled by Him.’ There is in each of us a void, a missing part, that can only be filled by the completeness of Christ – nothing else. You can argue against this, but the true answer is that everything we try always ends up being only a temporary fix. God’s love, on the other hand, is eternal, never-ending, and completely unconditional. We all want that love, some just have a different point of view of how to communicate it.” - Tiffany Arbuckle (Plumb)

  1. Hmmm, interesting song. I love listening to Christian songs! I usually have K Love playing (Christian radio station), but today it decided to be goofy and not work. So I am musicless since my iPod is also dead. :( lol!

  2. Maggie- My family and I listen to Klove also :) but personally I prefer Air 1 over Klove but that's just my taste of music :) ahhh... I strongly dislike ( I try not to use the word hate except for more serious things ;) when my iPod dies! I love my iPod, I don't know what I'd do without it! ;)
